Pentair’s industry-leading CodeLine™ selected
With a critical water shortage in Australia, the country recognized that it could not rely on rainfall for a secure water supply. Desalination is one way that the city of Sydney is ensuring it has enough water in the future, along with dams, recycling and other water conservation measures.
When planning began on the Sydney desalination plant, Pentair was chosen for our desalination expertise. Our CodeLine membrane housings are used in many of the world's major desalination projects.
Desalination works by treating seawater through reverse osmosis. As the water is pushed through the CodeLine membranes, salt and other impurities are removed, producing potable water.
Fresh water for 1.5 million people
Our work on the Sydney desalination plant involved the installation of 4,600 CodeLine membrane housings.
Today, Pentair’s CodeLine membranes are extracting fresh, clean drinking water from seawater for up to 1.5 million of Sydney’s residents, providing part or all of their water supply, as of 2010.
Our product is enabling the plant to meet 15 percent of the city’s fresh water needs, pumping an estimated 66 million gallons of safe clean drinking water each day.
For more than 30 years, Pentair’s industry-leading CodeLine products have built a reputation as one of the world’s preferred brands in critical and demanding applications for desalination, reverse osmosis, nanofiltration and ultrafiltration.
