Partnering to Deliver Clean Water in India
Partnering to Bring Clean Water to People in Need
Pentair Water India and its customer Water Health International are partnering to bring clean water to people in need. A country of one billion people, India is the fourth largest economy in the world. While economic prosperity in the country is rising, nearly 70 percent of India’s citizens live in rural communities with limited access to safe clean water. As a result, waterborne diseases affect millions of Indians annually, over 75 percent of whom are children under the age of five according to the World Health Organization.
India is also home to Pentair Water India with approximately 575 employees in manufacturing, research and sales locations in Goa, New Delhi and Hyderbad. This team, together with Water Health International, is helping to address the lack of clean water in rural villages. At its Goa facility, Pentair builds complete water treatment systems. Once delivered to communities, Water Health and Pentair installs the systems in dispensary stations, which are open to the community at large. Water Health also implements education programs to help communities understand the importance of clean drinking water and the connections between un-treated water and water-borne diseases. Together, Water Health and Pentair have installed 50 systems in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh in the past year, and an additional 30 systems in other regions, positively impacting what is estimated to be thousands of people.
