Foundation Giving Guidelines

The Pentair Foundation's efforts are focused on three areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact in our communities: education, community giving and water quality.

Education

Education is the key to success: that's why the Pentair Foundation focuses heavily on education programs ranging from those targeting disadvantaged youth to career transition and readiness. The Foundation's focus on education helps communities enhance opportunities for personal growth and success in the lives of their citizens. Grantees receiving education-oriented support from the Pentair Foundation must address one of the following:

  • Support and enhance science and math education, with a focus on applied skills including math and science for career development.
  • Provide school-to-work initiatives, including the teaching of business concepts and their applications; assistance with work readiness; career development; and guidance on post-secondary education options.
  • Offer alternative education that provides oppor-tunities for students to excel and advance. The Foundation places a special emphasis on environments that support individual needs and skill levels.
  • Provide arts education by introducing students to artistic concepts, processes and applications. Areas of focus include literature, music and dramatic arts, especially those that highlight local cultural influences.

In addition, the Pentair Foundation funds an education matching program for employees and select others; through it, the Foundation matches donations to qualified educational institutions. In this way, the Foundation further supports education as a key initiative.

Community Giving

Believing that those in the community are best suited to identify needs and create solutions, the Pentair Foundation also supports a broad platform of community initiatives to address many of life's basics, such as affordable housing and access to heath care. Grantees receiving community-giving support from the Foundation must operate programs that address one of the following:

  • Water quality education, conservation and action to meet the unique needs of the communities in which Pentair operates.
  • Assistance to individuals to achieve self-sufficiency, including job training, education assistance and resources, and affordable housing.
  • Entrepreneurial opportunities for and with eco- nomically disadvantaged individuals.
  • Opportunities for youth to gain life skills in an environment that encourages cross-cultural under-standing and respect for individuals.
  • Services for youth in crisis
  • Access to health care services for under-served individuals and families. Programs must offer pre-ventative education and resources on health and safety issues.
  • Assistance, education, and rehabilitation services for those suffering from physical and/or mental disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.
