Empowering Employees to Make a Difference
Empowered employees have helped to propel Pentair's success. We are committed to making Pentair an even better place to work. One way we do this is by asking our employees for their ideas, listening to their feedback, and acting on it.
Taking the Pulse at Pentair
One of our most important tools to engage employees and bring forward their ideas is the Pentair Pulse survey. The Pulse is a bi-annual employee survey conducted across all Pentair businesses. It gives us a way to identify what's working well and what isn't, so that we can build on our strengths and improve how we operate. This, in turn, allows us to better serve our customers and deliver results for shareholders. As Pentair grows and evolves, the Pulse will continue to provide all employees the opportunity to shape our future.
The first Pentair Pulse was completed in 2003. When Pulse results are received, each global business unit and region analyzes the results against previous years and peer companies, prioritizes opportunities for improvement, and develops appropriate action plans. Pentair leadership shares with employees and the Board of Directors the results of each Pulse survey, priorities for action, and action plans.
Since we conducted our first Pulse survey, we are pleased to have consistently achieved a response rate over 85 percent. In 2008, we achieved our highest participation in the survey at 92 percent of employees worldwide. This is a testament to the level of our employees' engagement and their commitment to improving the organization every day.
