Bacteria Doesn’t Stand A Chance Against UV
Ultraviolet (UV) light is found on the light spectrum just below visible light. Its natural power has germicidal properties, allowing it to be used as a pathogen reduction method that does not require the use of salt or harmful chemicals. For this reason, UV is an ideal solution for homeowners on well water, which typically sees higher levels of bacteria and viruses as a result of environmental impacts. Enter the Pentair Standard UV System. Don’t let its small footprint fool you, this system is certified to be 99.9% effective at reducing waterborne pathogens and uses as little energy as a 25-or 40-watt lightbulb. It features an interactive LCD display, allowing you to view lamp life, intensity status, troubleshooting steps, and more. Other features include:
- 9-16 GPM peak flow – ideal for most homes
- UV sensor technology gives you real-time performance information
- Indicator lights show the status of system components. Warning light alerts you when maintenance is required.
- Safety cap prevents children from accessing the lamp or any of the electrical components
- Lamp plug ensures that the UV lamp cannot be powered if it not in the chamber
Water Taste & Odor Not Affected
No Harmful Chemicals Required
Inactivate Waterborne Pathogens
How it works
UV disinfection inactivates bacteria, viruses and other pathogens by preventing them from reproducing. UV light penetrates and permanently alters the DNA of the microorganisms in a process called thymine dimerization. The microorganisms are inactivated and rendered unable to reproduce or infect. The disinfection process does not affect taste, color, or odor of your water.
Indicator lights on the system show the status of the system components. Warning lights appear when system maintenance is required.
The safety cap prevents children from accessing the lamp or electrical components. The special lamp plug ensures that no one can power the UV lamp if it is not in the UV chamber.
LCD UV Display Screen
The display will count down to indicate when the lamp should be replaced. When 30 days remain, the lamp light will show yellow and the alarm will sound giving you time to order your new lamp.

Systems tested and certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 55 for disinfection performance, Class B
What is the difference between normal UV systems and Pentair UV Systems?
Pentair UV Systems are validated and certified under NSF 55 Class B. Validated models have a flow restrictor installed on the unit that limits the maximum flow, to guarantee a minimum 16 m/J dose @ 70% UVT according to the NSF standard which is acceptable for city water supply disinfection.
Will UV get rid of Iron Bacteria and/or Sulfur Reducing Bacteria?
UV is not recommended for the disinfection of water with iron or sulfur bacteria. With over 600 different types of iron and sulfur bacteria, and the jelly-like membrane the bacteria have, the UV would not be able to properly penetrate the membrane of the bacteria to disinfect the water. It is recommended you look at a chlorine injection system with retention to kill iron or sulfur bacteria.
Why is it recommended to pre-treat the water before installing a UV Premium System?
A 5 micron sediment prefilter is recommended to reduce dirt and debris. The reason for this pretreatment is the quality of the water can not only affect the dosage of UV disinfection the system provides, it may also cause premature "sleeve fouling" which will require the sleeve to be cleaned more often, and may also damage the UV sleeve.
