How Do Canadian ECCC REgulations Relate to U.S. DOE Pool Pump Regulations?
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) introduced pool pumps into Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations, with requirements applying to pool pumps manufactured on or after January 1, 2026. The Canadian regulations are intended to harmonize with U.S. DOE DPPP regulations, helping create a more consistent North American efficiency framework for manufacturers, dealers, builders, and pool owners.
The regulation references U.S. DOE test methods and performance standards, including Weighted Energy Factor (WEF), making high-efficiency variable speed pump technology an important pathway for meeting both U.S. and Canadian expectations.
