What is ENERGY STAR?
The EPA’s ENERGY STAR program helps identify and promote energy efficient products nationwide and awards its widely recognized ENERGY STAR certification to products that meet specific criteria. The EPA’s website offers savings tips, factsheets, product reviews and more. You can also search and compare certified products using the Product Finder tool.
Why choose an ENERGY STAR certified pool pump?
According to the EPA, a pool pump is a home’s second-largest energy user. With an estimated 8.5 million residential pools and 200,000 new ones being built annually, that’s a lot of energy…and opportunity for savings. Since 2005, Pentair’s ENERGY STAR certified pool pumps have helped U.S. consumers save $2.4 billion in operating costs, which means 22 billion kilowatt hours of energy saved.**
Do ENERGY STAR certified pool pumps meet the new U.S. Department of Energy standards?
Starting July 18, 2021, self-priming filtration pumps rated between 0.711 and 2.5 hydraulic horsepower will be required to meet the U.S. Department of Energy’s new energy conservation standards for dedicated-purpose pool pumps. While these requirements are different from the voluntary ENERGY STAR certification, Pentair’s ENERGY STAR-certified variable speed pool pumps currently meet the new standard.
Pentair’s energy-efficient pool pumps have prevented the release of 17.1 million tons of carbon dioxide since 2005.*
