St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to start planning a festive event for your friends and family. Regardless if your pool is open or not, a pool party is a great way to celebrate any holiday and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception. Here are a few ways to bring the luck of the Irish to your backyard:

Decorating is super simple when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day because you already know your color palette: go green or go home! Purchase some green shamrock streamers and banners. With a rainbow colored runner, add gold-foiled wrapped chocolate coins. If your pool is open, switching up the lighting in your pool to green or and throw in some festive green lighting to your poolscape to help create a fun and charming atmosphere! Oh, and don’t forget the Irish tunes!

The Irish are known for their love of lagers and stouts and most arguably Guinness is Ireland’s most famous drink. If that’s not your thing, there are plenty of other amazing drinks to take into consideration for your St. Patrick’s Day celebration, including Irish coffee, Irish whiskey or even just plain old green-colored drinks, like mint juleps, green smoothies or anything with a green garnish!

When it comes to food, consider a selection of traditional Irish dishes such as Irish stew, beef and cabbage boxty, coddle or colcannon. You could also go with foods, which are green in color to keep up with the color palette of the holiday, like stuffed green peppers, chips and guacamole, jalapeno poppers or avocado deviled eggs! You can even make Lucky Charm marshmallow treats for dessert!

There are tons of creative and fun activities for a St. Patrick’s Day party. If your pool is open, use a pool heater and let guests swim! If your pool is still closed, you can have a shamrock cookie decorating contest, throw a fun St. Patrick’s Day themed scavenger hunt that the kids and adults can enjoy or play a fun game of shamrock bingo!

Here’s to a fun and festive St. Patrick’s Day and as the old Irish saying goes: May your troubles be less and your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come to your door.
