Pool parties are a blast, but once the fun is done, your pool will likely need a little extra TLC. Extended use affects your pool’s water chemistry due to various pollutants like sweat, dirt and sunscreen. As a result, a thorough cleaning is always necessary after a pool party.

Here are 5 things you should do to clean your pool after a pool party:

1. Clear debris around the pool area

Clearing debris around your pool area is an essential part of the cleaning process. This includes cleaning up any trash, putting away water toys and making sure your deck is free from any dirt and debris. If you hose off your deck, make sure the water doesn’t go into your pool!

2. Check water levels

From diving to cannonballs and plain old evaporation, many factors can affect your pool’s water levels. Always check if your water is at an appropriate level to ensure your equipment can function properly. If you find the levels are running low, filling your pool up is as simple as grabbing the closest garden hose.

3. Skim the water surface

Now it’s time to skim the surface of the water to remove any large debris that may have fallen into your pool.

4. Brush and vacuum

Next, brush your pool’s walls and stairs to remove dirt and grime. Then, use your pool cleaner to vacuum any remaining debris. This is the perfect time to use your robotic pool cleaner, like the Pentair Prowler 930! While it’s running and doing the hard work for you, take a moment to relax by the pool or hang out with the family.

5. Test water chemistry

Finally, test your water’s chemistry. This is an essential part of the pool cleaning process and a pool safety best practice. When testing your water’s chemistry you’ll want to check for Free Available Chlorine, Cyanuric Acid, pH, Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness and make sure each are at proper levels.

Owning a pool is a ton of fun, but making sure it’s well taken care of after the fun is important too. Now your pool is ready for your next party or an afternoon swim!
