Time for Nature: Celebrating World Environment Day

Each June 5, the world comes together to celebrate World Environment Day. Established by the United Nations in 1974, World Environment Day offers a global platform for positive change.

In 2020, everyone is encouraged to share why it’s Time for Nature. The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature.

As a leading water treatment company, we understand the inherent connection between food, water and air and their impact on the nature around us. All are needed to sustain life, and all are dependent upon each other. That’s why at Pentair, our focus is on developing smart, sustainable water solutions that help our customers make the most of life’s essential resource.

Pentair offers innovative water solutions across the industry spectrum – from great tasting water for our residential and commercial customers, to industrial water management where we help companies return the water safely to the environment after use. As water resources become increasingly scarce, we work to develop high-efficiency systems to help reduce demand on freshwater resources. In fact, 65 percent of our solutions support water efficiency, helping to reduce, reuse or recover water, directly or indirectly.

More Efficient Food Production

Did you know that agriculture consumes approximately 70 percent of the fresh water used around the world each year? Pentair’s irrigation management systems support sustainable food production by using less water and energy, reducing potentially harmful runoffs, and improving resource efficiency.

Clear Air to Breathe

It takes energy to move and improve water, and that in turn contributes to air pollution. In developing solutions that require less power, we help reduce the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) released by power plants while also conserving limited natural resources.  From our ENERGY STAR certified pool pumps, to energy efficient commercial HVAC pumps and water treatment solutions that help increase the efficiency of your appliances, we work hard to design each new generation of solutions with reduced energy use demands.

We have also developed innovative CO2 recovery and purification technologies that captures CO2 before it is released into the atmosphere, thereby helping reduce the emission footprint for food and beverage manufacturing processes.

We hope you join us in supporting World Environment Day by celebrating nature while also taking steps to care #ForNature for generations to come.
