Earth Day: Doing Our Part for People and the Planet

At Pentair we recognize that water touches every aspect of our lives, from a morning cup of coffee to our work, and our world.  It’s our purpose at Pentair to help make water, life’s most essential resource, better for people and the planet through smart, sustainable water solutions. On this Earth Day, and every day, we recognize that clean, available water and energy are foundational elements of a healthy planet and support resilient, sustainable business.

Today, I’m pleased to highlight the progress Pentair has made with its Sustainability Strategic Targets, as announced in our recent 2025 Sustainability Report, which are helping to create a better, more sustainable planet.

Water Stewardship
Our Water Stewardship target aims to restore 100% of the water volume withdrawn by Pentair manufacturing sites in high-water-stress areas annually.

In 2025, we met our annual Sustainability Strategic Target focused on water stewardship by restoring 100% of water withdrawal by manufacturing sites in high-water-stress areas, representing approximately 31 million gallons of water restored to high-water-stress areas.1 In addition to achieving our annual water stewardship target, we advanced our own operational efforts by:

  • Reducing water withdrawal by 34.4% from our 2019 baseline in 2025 and 4.9% compared to 2024

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction
Our Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction target aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 60% by 2030 from our 2019 baseline.

In 2025, we achieved continued progress toward our Sustainability Strategic Target focused on GHG emissions reduction by reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 54.0% from our 2019 baseline. In addition to making progress on our GHG emissions reduction target, we furthered our strategy by:

  • Continuing to assess our Scope 3 GHG emissions and planned enhancements to our data strategy
  • Completing a climate gap assessment as we work toward a company-wide climate transition plan

Product Design for Sustainability Our Product Design for Sustainability target aims to complete the sustainability scorecard for 100% of new products.

In 2025, we achieved our Sustainability Strategic Target, focused on sustainable product design, by assessing 100% of new products2 with our product sustainability scorecard.3 In addition to achieving our annual product sustainability target, we advanced our strategy by:

  • Enhancing our sustainability scorecard to better incorporate circular design impact as part of new product design concepts
  • Hosting our second annual Sustainability Innovation Challenge

Thank you to our customers, employees, and shareholders for helping Pentair achieve this progress! As we recognize and celebrate Earth Day today, I’m proud of the work we’re doing to create a more sustainable planet that’s built for the future.

1"High-water-stress areas” are defined as areas that have an Overall Water Risk score of 3 or higher in the World Resource Institute’s Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas tool. Water planned to be restored into the same or other high-water-stress areas as Pentair withdrawal.
2Physical products only.
3The product sustainability scorecard analyzed five impacts from a product's lifecycle - water use, energy use, GHG emissions, resource use efficiency, and material health - and incorporated an assessment of these impacts as part of new product design.
