Driving Change: Pentair Foundation Grantees Help Sustainably Improve Water

Earlier this year, the Pentair Foundation announced the 2025 Water Grant recipients, awarding $1.25 million in funding to support eight partner organizations focused on moving, improving, and enjoying water. These initiatives reflect the Foundation’s mission to build inclusive communities by investing in the availability, quality, and enjoyment of water around the world.

Today, I’m spotlighting the amazing work by our grantee partners that focus on efforts that seek to improve water quality and reduce single use plastic water bottles with support from the Pentair Foundation. From July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, Pentair Foundation partner organizations (listed below) provided over one million gallons of cleaner, safer drinking water, installed 28 new clean water systems, and helped avoid the use of over 4.7 million plastic water bottles. Together, these organizations are helping to sustainably improve water, a pillar of our broader mission.

DigDeep
DigDeep transforms communities through the gift of clean, running water.  Their community-led projects bring clean, hot and cold running water into homes across the United States. They also invest in research, advocacy, and workforce development to close the “Water Gap” for citizens without access to running water.

With support from the Pentair Foundation, DigDeep has been able to further their mission of advancing community-led solutions, develop an evidence base of domestic data, and mobilize young people across America, all in an effort to build an ecosystem of change around water access. We’re proud to support this mission and help ensure every American has access to cleaner, safer drinking water.

Isla Urbana
Isla Urbana is working towards a future in which equitable and sustainable water access is a shared reality for all. Their objectives are to increase access to water for communities in Mexico that are working towards water autonomy, while strengthening a movement around the importance of access to clean water that transcends geographical boundaries.

Support from the Pentair Foundation helped Isla Urbana to successfully implement five “Rain Schools” in the Mazatec region of Mexico, now providing clean water access to over 600 students and 38 teachers and school staff. This improves the daily lives of hundreds of parents who previously struggled to ensure water access for their children at school. The success of this grant-supported phase has created a strong precedent for scaling locally implemented Rain School programs in other remote regions across Mexico—with the Mazatec program serving as a model of sustainable, community-based growth.

Safe Water Network
Safe Water Network envisions a world with healthy, thriving communities sustainably managing their own safe water. The organization reaches millions of people in underserved communities, with a focused impact in Ghana and India, by developing affordable, equitable solutions and accelerates access by providing technical assistance and catalyzing sector-wide collaboration.

The Pentair Foundation’s support for Safe Water Network has helped the organization to accelerate both innovation and impact across their safe water and sustainability programs. This includes the development of Safe Water Network’s Center of Excellence and Technical Services, which enables the organization to pilot, refine, and replicate low-cost, scalable safe water models and technologies—tailored for underserved communities and institutional settings like schools. The support also made it possible for Safe Water Network to install a total of 14 water stations across 11 schools, providing safe drinking water access to thousands of children during the school day.

I’m incredibly proud of the work that DigDeep, Isla Urbana, and Safe Water Network have done to improve water quality and reduce single use plastic water bottles. Together with the Pentair Foundation, we’re improving water access and quality in support of more sustainable communities!
