International Women’s Day 2020: Celebrating Women’s Achievements and the Quest for Gender Equality

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day – Each for Equal – is centered on the idea that an equal world is an enabled world, and that gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive.

At Pentair, we couldn’t agree more! Our Win Right culture, which is strongly grounded in our values and leadership competencies, is the foundation for our commitment to inclusion and diversity. We strongly believe that every Pentair employee should be provided the same opportunity to be heard, respected, have a sense of belonging, and contribute to our mission of delivering smart, sustainable solutions that empower our customers to make the most of life’s essential resource.

International Women’s Day provides us with the opportunity to celebrate the many accomplished women that are contributing their talents and expertise each and every day at Pentair. Around the globe, from Minneapolis to Singapore to Reynosa, Mexico, Pentair colleagues are coming together to participate in a variety of events to network, share experiences, and discuss what we can do – individually and collectively – to help women succeed in leadership at Pentair.

Leading by Example – Pentair Engineer Recognized Among Women for Excellence in Manufacturing
Earlier this week, we were excited to learn that our own Sonal Gola, Smart Products & IoT Delivery Manager, is being recognized by The Manufacturing Institute as an honoree for its Women in Manufacturing STEP Ahead Award. A long-time employee of Pentair, Sonal has been a crucial part of Pentair’s digital transformation, creating smart, connected products that improve customer satisfaction by helping to keep safety standards high and maintenance costs low. With a customer-first focus, she provides valuable technical assistance through strong partnerships with her colleagues on highly complex, technically challenging projects. We are proud to have Sonal on our team, and are pleased that her accomplishments are being recognized by The Manufacturing Institute.

"I am from a country where there are few opportunities for women to have a long career due to social obligations and priorities. We have the same intellect and strengths as men and can contribute equally to society; it is just a matter of staying consistent. I suggest that we make choices that make us happy and feel proud of ourselves when we look back."

On International Women’s Day, and every day, think about what you can do to truly make a difference for women—both at work and in your community—as we work to achieve #EachforEqual.
